nautical inspired styled wedding shoot – Get Hitched 2012 – custom wedding invitations

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!!

In the spirit of the holiday weekend – and everyone heading to the lake – I thought I would share this gorgeous nautical styled shoot! This was part of the “Get Hitched” styled shoots we worked on last summer. It’s one of my favorites – bright colors, gorgeous flowers, and a perfect lakeside set up!

Katie Lewis Photography did an AMAZING job capturing all of the details. Check out some of my favorite photos of the shoot below:

I love this old wooden boat – totally gorgeous and perfect for a photo op! The shoot took place at Fair Hills Resort – the same location we had for our own wedding reception. 🙂 It’s a gorgeous location on Pelican Lake in Minnesota.

For this shoot – we wanted to have a nautical theme with a twist. Fun patterns and colors were key: chevron, polka dots, bright oranges, navy, etc. I had fun with the invitation verbiage – something a little different to highlight the location and feel for the big day.

I went with a bright white linen card stock with navy linen backing card. I utilized the patterns for an additional backing card.

I love the little anchor accent – very nautical and has a rustic look that contrasts the modern elements of the rest of the stationery. 🙂

Shotwell Floral did a fabulous job on the floral arrangements. I love the colors and fullness of the centerpieces. Simply gorgeous!! I also love the blue flowers Katie placed by the invitation and menus – they are so unique and the color is amazing!

I had fun with the menu design – and played around with the layout. Something fun and a little different from your typical menu!

We had to have Swedish fish as little favors! 🙂 I found the mini pails online.

Another fun thing we incorporated with this shoot to keep with our nautical theme were signal flags. I did my own take on it and made my own designs. I used hearts, entwined rings and more of the fun patterns incorporated in the rest of the stationery. I made mini banners for the chair swags, and a large banner for a backdrop. SO fun! 🙂

West 13th Salon did a fabulous job with hair and makeup on our models. 🙂

Love in the Oven Bakery made the cake pops. I love the pops of color. They doubled as mini sails! What a fun idea for a “nautical” inspired wedding dessert! 🙂

The Bridal Shop provided the suits and dresses. I love the soft khaki colors on the guys with the open collar – casual yet classic for an outdoor lake wedding. The dresses also complimented the style and location of our shoot – so pretty!

Gorgeous shot of our bride and groom by Katie Lewis Photography!

Love these detailed shots of the rings, provided by Wimmer’s Diamonds.

I love the fresh look of this whole shoot! I want to attend a wedding like this! 🙂
